Black and white photos always were my favorite

We had our ultrasound Thursday and were thrilled to see our baby for the first time (sorta the first time, anyway). We had a very brief ultrasound at 10 weeks to ensure there was a heartbeat, so this was our first "real" ultrasound. I am very pleased to report our little one is doing very well. It was truly amazing to watch as the ultrasound tech examined the heart, the kidneys, the spine and the legs and arms. Our little one squirmed around and kicked and waved while we stared at the screen - completely enamored. We also took a look at the face which at this point looks much like an alien, but of course a very sweet one.

Immediately after the ultrasound we had our 18 week checkup with our doctor who said everything is going very well. The baby is doing very well and I am doing very well. Its just nice to hear that we are doing something right every once in a while.

So they send us home with these three little black and white pictures of our baby. I took them to work and showed them off. I know I used to get annoyed when people would do this to me because to me it always looks like a blurry blob. And to be honest, my baby probably looks like a blurry blob to most of you, too. But I guess the reason parents get so excited about these little pictures is because that is the most precious blurry blob in the world to them. They would do anything to ensure the health and safety of the blurry blob. They can't wait to see the blurry blob in approximately 5 months. That blurry blob is THEIR blurry blob - certainly something worth showing off.

When someday I am more technologically savy, I will post a picture of our blurry blob.
