This weekend, my mom, Brian and I went to my cousin’s (Laura) wedding in Michigan. We had a really good time - but are now completely exhausted. Of course I do not have a very good excuse for being exhausted. Brian did all of the driving. Combine traveling, a sunny day, and a Sunday afternoon and you can bet that is the perfect recipe for a Jean-nap. Three to be exact. Brian really is an excellent driver so it is easy for me to sleep when he is behind the wheel. But despite all that "sleep" I am feeling decidedly out-of-routine and sleep deprived. Not to mention I have one outrageous to do list waiting for my attention this week. Ugh.
We had a fantastic time in the great state of Michigan! Friday night we had a family (uncles, aunts, cousins on my mom’s side) pizza party wherein we had Fricannos pizza which is one of my top 3 favorite pizzas of all time. Delicious. Saturday morning we visited my college buddy Skips and enjoyed catching up with her. Saturday afternoon was the wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony. I’m not prone to cry at weddings - but this one definitely made the eyes water. The reception/dance was that evening. We were pleased to be seated at Table #2. My endlessly-amusing relatives took out their trusty ballpoint pen and changed our #2 to a #1. Needless to say, we felt slightly guilty when we got our food before the parents and grandparents. Oops. Oh well. The dance was entertaining - my uncles are some of the funniest people I know. Brian even got out on the floor a time or two. You can imagine my surprise when halfway through the dance he leans over and says "We should take dance lessons so we can have more fun when we go to parties like this." Sunday we worshiped at our relative’s church, had a quick sandwich and hit the road. And now here we are.
It is not only my first day back from a trip, it is also the Bossman’s first day back from a trip. This is an interesting combination. I have decided my previous statements about how it would be fun to go away for a long time and see what my coworkers do could prove to be hazardous to my health. My desk had piles of stuff on it. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that when they are gone for 7 day vacations I do all their work for them - because work has to get done whether or not people are gone. I do not pile it up on their desk figuring they can handle it when they come back. No. I actually apply myself and DO it. Shockingly, this seems to be behavior that they are not accustomed to reciprocating. So like any good/friendly coworker, I went through the piles, looked at all of it, and GAVE IT ALL BACK TO THEM! Ha ha ha! Admit it, you guys would LOVE to work with me!
FYI - the grocery list is still sitting on my desk. Go figure.
