Catch Up

I spent the better part of Friday evening finishing up my personal comments on each and every piece of creative writing entrusted to me (as previously blogged). I really did enjoy the whole process and wouldn't mind doing it again. And I was relieved to learn that indeed, no one would pass out my name, address, phone number, height, weight and hair color to anyone who wanted to know who the moronic judge was this year. Phew! Crisis averted.

Saturday morning I zippity-do-dahed my way up to Ames wherein I spent one hour with my Mom in a JC Penney store shopping like it was the first time I had seen a mall since I fit in anything that couldn't be termed "maternity". Given my 60 minute time frame, I made quite a haul getting lots of good summer clothes. I know feel much better about the days getting warmer. Post-shopping-whirlwind Mom and I attended the bridal shower for Angie, Tom's future wifey (aka FMTVV - inside joke no one will get and I will not explain). Bridal showers can be so different. Some are very serious and some are really loud and ridiculous. This one was perfect...and I mean that. It was light-hearted and fun and just plain cool. It always easy to have fun at a party when you are really happy about what is being celebrated. Hubby and Reagan spent the day together and had a good time bonding.

Sunday morning our good friends, Gerrit and Michelle, baptized their baby boy. They asked me to sing and I readily agreed. But yesterday morning I just could not go up there and just sing. I decided I had to say something. I knew what this would mean. I would get terribly choked up and singing would be nearly impossible. Singing for me is prayerful. Prayer is never a performance. Prayer is the contents of our heart being laid before our God. Given the contents of my heart, there was no way emotion wasn't going to show through. I didn't dissolve into a puddle, but boy howdy was my throat tight. At any rate, we had a really good time celebrating with them.

This morning my thoughts are with Mr. Bossman. In case you may have missed the conditions being reported in Boston this morning, there is a lot of rain, it is cold and the wind is gusting at 50 mph. Apparently, these are the worst conditions ever for the Boston Marathon. Yuck. But he will be out for the week so this should be a nice time for me to catch up. And trust me, I badly need to catch up.
