Oh what fun a weekend brings

Hubby and I made the trip to see my family this weekend. Upon our arrival, we were treated to a mini-impromptu-baby shower. My mom had traveled to Michigan to see her family last week and they sent many little baby gifts back with her. We had a great deal of fun opening each one. Hubby has never been to a baby shower (to my knowledge) and the look on his face was really quite priceless. Each package held a new outfit or toy or blanket. Our brains struggled to picture our little one snuggly bundled in the little sleepers and onesies. Grandma-to-be also showered us with presents.

When we got home on Sunday evening I spread out all of the baby things on the coffee table. Hubby took time carefully going over each and every item. Inspecting. Testing snaps. Smiling. Once satisfied he had taken careful inventory, we put all of it away in the baby's room. Little by little our nursery becomes more and more the baby's room. Not a day goes by where we don't find ourselves grinning like fools as we walk by the baby's room.

And now it all seems like this might actually really happen. It is so nice to have people reach out and embrace us with thoughtfulness. And as I said to Brian on our way home, it isn't so much the presents, even though they were extremely fun. Its more that people love us and are excited for us and want to celebrate our joy with us. That means more to me than anything. So to all those who made our weekend extra special, I want to say thank you for the beautiful gifts, but even more than that, thank you for loving us so much. Our hearts feel very full.
