You SO asked for it

The other day, Hubby was giving me his honest opinion about my blog. I was rapt with attention, as you can imagine. He rumbled on about several things - one of which was that he hates his blog nickname of "Hubby". But my head snapped up in surprise when he made the following comment:

B - You just don’t write about me enough.
J - Ooooooohkaaaaaaaay. You realize what you are signing yourself up for, don’t you?
B - Um, nevermind.
J - Too late.
B - I take it back.
J - You can’t.
B - Great.

So here you have it.

Hubby is an interesting person. What most people don’t know about him is that he has the capacity to be outrageously funny. Of course sometimes his humor strikes at the wrong moment and the you-look-like-a-pumpkin comment he made yesterday is not funny the day after. But he often has me giggling at one thing or another.

He doesn’t like movies. He doesn’t really listen to music. He doesn’t read many books. He doesn’t waste time on conversation at the dinner table (something we are working on!). The only thing that makes Hubby slow down and take notice is sports. This man can watch football for days on end. I don’t know how he does it. I sleep through as many of his football marathons as possible.

Hubby has the ability to eat anything, but is fairly picky. When I eat something I don’t like, I gag. When he eats something he doesn’t like, he eats it all. Considering my cooking "skills" - or lack thereof - God certainly designed this man just for me.

Hubby LOVES kids - especially babies. He’s a natural. Kids do not intimidate him in the least. You could stick him in a room full of toddlers and he would have a blast. All this bodes very well for our future!

Hubby was and is the best friend I will ever have. Though not everyday with me is a total joy (hard to believe, I know), he has never once made me feel that he wished I wasn’t there. He has been so gracious and understanding in our hard times that I truly don’t know how I ever would have survived them without him. He has put aside his fears to go through life with me - not the most calm and mellow person on earth. He has protected me and provided for me in all the ways that husbands are supposed to. We get along fabulously well and I can honestly say that there isn’t a day when I don’t look forward to spending time with him.

All that is great stuff. But the greatest thing about him is his love for Jesus. He knows what it means to live in such a way that faith is threaded through every fiber of his being. You never get him minus Christ because the two are woven together into one. He lives his faith everyday of his life. Faith isn’t something you can set aside and he knows this. And though he isn’t the type of guy to go around and preach on a street corner, he is the kind of guy who will show you what it means to believe in God. He challenges me to be a better follower of Christ. And I really can’t say anything better than that.
