Refreshed

I could be the only one rejoicing with the weather we have just received. As I sit here typing, it is a lovely dark shade of gray. People drove with their lights on this morning. I can see into the building across the way because it is so dark outside and their lights are on inside.

For several days we had this indian summer thing happening. It was nearly 90 degrees a few times. People all around me talked about how wonderful and nice the weather was. I didn't argue with them - but I didn't agree either.

Fall is, by far, my favorite time of year. Somehow nothing makes me feel more alive than the crisp cool - but not biting - air. I love driving to and from work and watching the fallen leaves whirl in dances as the cars whiz by. I love the fact that all things pollen stop their annoying allergy attacks on me.

But more than that I love the colors. Reds, oranges, golds.

There is a tree on my commute that catches my eye every single time. At the very top it is a fiery red. The kind of red you didn't realize was prevalent in nature other than on a few delicate flowers. As your eyes wanders from the top of the tree you are treated to the next layer of color. Leaves in burnt orange. Closer to the bottom you find the brilliant gold leaves glittering in the wind. And at the very bottom are what remain of the green summer leaves. Its as if the sun is slowly washing the green off the tree. As each drop of light pours over the leaf, it falls to the one below, cleansing the trees of their green.

You won't hear me complaining. Welcome back fall!
