One of the guys??

My luxurious Sunday afternoon nap was cut a little short when loud shouting erupted from the other side of the couch. He looked at my half-open eyes and said "You’re either done sleeping or you’re going downstairs." As tempted as I was to stick up and fight for my afternoon nap, it was much more amusing to see this much emotion coming from a man, what’s more - my husband!

Every 5 minutes Brian would look at me and ask "Do you think they’re going to pull it off?" And I would respond intelligently using words like "consistently" and "shot selection" and "tenacity" only to be interrupted by another eruption of shouts from the other side of the couch.

If you can’t beat him, join him...or something like that. I cut my inner-sports-fan loose. It was a beautiful thing. When Thompson made the long three we both threw our arms up in the air simultaneously. When Hansen blocked the shot we high-fived each other. When they made free throws we cheered loudly. I was, in effect, one of the guys.

I’ll admit, it was fun for a while. It was an enjoyable experience. I got some great pictures of Brian in his most animated state. He was in a superb mood for the rest of the day/night. But at some point, after the cheering and news coverage, I realized that I was living outside of myself and morphed back into the wife who just wanted a pleasant Sunday nap on the couch.
